BREW’S MIKKELSEN KAMIKAZE 1985 Jun 14, 2011 Categories: MASH Frames 0 Comment An important moment in messenger history is this bike. In 1985 Bernie Mikkelsen built 20 fixed gear frames, called the Kamikaze, and shipped them to working messengers in NY, and used right here in SF. This one belongs to Brew. This frame was built to take city abuse, just as the head badge declares. This frame pre-dates the messenger hype created by Quicksilver. Enclosed are some details from the visit. Checkered taxi, Empire state building, and a punk messenger, on a proper track bike. 26 years later, we are happy to have it visit, and re-inspire us. Thanks to Brew for bringing it in!
