From time to time we get a piece of mail that reaffirms why we do what we do. This one comes from the UK.
Since we got back from SF, quite a few friends have asked “how come you support and chose to ride with people from a bike shop in SF” and I suppose thinking about it, it might seem strange from the outside?? So, I’ll give you the same answer:
A few years ago I was hospitalized with a heart problem (don’t worry I’m fine and now see it as a temporary hiccup!) I’d ridden bikes all my life and was suddenly told not to, I worked with and knew people who were massively overweight and unfit and went through the whole “why me”, “what have I done wrong” thing. Even after being given the all clear to get back on the bike, I became totally disillusioned with riding, then one day while still off work I was mindlessly surfing around Youtube when I came across a clip you’d posted. I remember sitting mesmerized and watched it over and over again, I’d never seen anything like it, brakeless track bikes, on the road, it blew me away!! It prompted me to go out and find a cheap early 80’s bike in the local paper, convert it to fixed gear and ride again. The rest as they say is history!! So, thanks for the inspiration, keep doing what you do and I will continue to follow and support from here in the UK and send occasional photos from our travels!

In the modern age, we are all photographers in the simplest level. Through phones, DSLR’s, and travel size film and digital cameras, we all document our surroundings. We wanted to share with you links that connect to some of the members of our racing teams, and the media they share. Check in!

Today was the first race of the season for Chas, and he found himself on top of the Elite Men SSCX at Fort Ord! Congrats to the Chas, and the team for these early season efforts!

Tuesday AM We will release our 2013 race kit in our
shop, and
online. Garrett designed this kit based on The Red, Green, and Blue color processes in digital photography and video. We love this kit, and look forward to seeing it on the streets, and in the woods!

Last night a huge pack of die hard Cyclocross racers and fans met at a non-disclosed location to do what DFL has done for 18 years. 1: Race bikes 2: Have fun. The Bay Area is lucky to have groups like DFL continuing to create free events for decades. Some of the racers last night must have been infants when these guys began their project. We have always looked up the DFL team, and projects like this. Free fun races regularly, and doing it for decades, and doing it for the right reasons. Here is to more decades to come!
Black Cat has the best process for finishing frames. No set logo or font, listening to the customer, and creating a unique (or ripped) identity for each frame. Merckx Cat
We built this kicker the morning of the race, but it was not on route. Still fun even after someone tried to jump it in a truck.
DAMN. Incredible turnout!
With all the black on black trending bikes out there, color is not lost out here.
Did we mention it is the original Drag Race?!
Cam laid down the rules. Be nice, and do not go past that barrier ever. Follow the arrows, If you get lost, we are worried about your well being. Lappers be nice to the lapped.
The hunt is on.
This sums up the evening.
