W.BUB.III Dec 30, 2012 Categories: MASH Frames, News Walton has been capturing more moments since he picked up a new camera. Looking back through his recent submissions reminded me what it feels like to be out there. We are all out there, but with Walt, it is this unfiltered point of view, that for me resinates. Moments, that add up to a bigger picture. I will always love the mystery of a photograph. Info, but not too much. Moments otherwise spoiled by video capture, a photo leaves room for the viewer to interpret, and read into a moment. Loose story telling.

SCCX #3 2012 Dec 18, 2012 Categories: MASH Frames, News Sunday brought a close to the Surf City Cyclocross Series, this time hosted at the Watsonville Fairgrounds. With the abundance of recent rain, the course was muddy and fun. Enclosed are some details from the Elite Men’s A’s and the Single Speed A’s, as they raced simultaneously. Kyle slithering into new skin Embody Zombie We are happy to have Crihs spending his winter racing CX in the Bay Area. It was really inspiring to see this new mother balancing racing, and raising a family. Here she is slow rolling her child toward a nap while keeping her legs warm. I’m not going to disclose who was using these performance enhancing stimulants. Walton got hit with asthma last time he was on the east coast. He had an inhaler and his phone under his skin suit. We love Mavic Ellipse wheels on the road, and in the dirt. Derek transporting his pit bike. Kyle using a state of the art gauge to confirm pressure. SCCX requires you maintain the same race number for the entire series. If you loose it, a replacement is $10, or you can make your own. Ben Jacques-Maynes gets the call-up Racers ready? GO! Derek and Scotty with a beard-off. Derek wins the sprint, Scotty wins the Beard. With plenty of rain in December, the Watsonville Fairgrounds course was a blast. We wish our CX season started later, or our weather started earlier. The Elite A’s, and the Single Speed racers started a minute apart. Chas opened up a large gap in the first lap of the SSCX group, and held it the entire race. Derek leading the chase group throughout the up-hill barriers. Walton winding back to the stables DJ borrowed Walton’s SSCX. This is his first season out, and is hooked. Aaron rips, here illustrating the fastest way around the route marker, is to lean in and lift off. This off camber drop-in was one of the route highlights. Mud drawing Derek and Scotty Walton coming through the stables Kyle is a full time student, has a job, and still raced a great season. Our team has always consisted of friends who live full lives on and off the bike. Wonder what Walt was listening to? Chas looping the stables Kyle on the last lap Mr. Jacques-Maynes is your Elite Men’s A’s series winner. Chas finished solo winning the Single Speed A’s. Victory drank Walton will be racing on the road starting in January. Enjoy you 2 weeks off! Helmet hair Aaron is also tuff as nails. Heal quick Pressure washers at the race finish are a luxury. Time for the awards ceremony Kyle placed 5th for the series. Looks like we need to make team jackets for 2013. Chas won again in the SSCX A’s. Thanks to all the Bay Area organizers who keep the cyclocross season full and fun. After four hours in the van, a tuff race, and two PB+J sandwiches, Chas went straight to a night shift working on his bike in the rain. We are proud of the CX team this season, and are grateful to all the event organizers, and team sponsors. Looking forward to 2013 on the street, and in the dirt! MM

Dec 13, 2012 Categories: MASH Frames, News “Rising from Ashes” is a feature length documentary about two worlds colliding when cycling legend Jock Boyer moves to Rwanda, Africa to help a group of struggling genocide survivors pursue their dream of a national team. As they set out against impossible odds both Jock and the team find new purpose as they rise from the ashes of their past. For more information visit: Website: risingfromashesthemovie.com “Cycling is an excruciating sport—a rider’s power is only as great as his capacity to endure pain—and it is often remarked that the best cyclists experience their physical agonies as a relief from private torments. The bike gives suffering a purpose.” – The New Yorker on Team Rwanda “As a seven-year-old, Adrien miraculously survived the slaughter (genocide) and is now the No.1 mountain biker on the biggest cycling team in Africa. He will be, without doubt, the most extraordinary athlete at the 2012 Olympic Games.” – Sports Illustrated “In London, Adrien Niyonshuti looks likely to rub shoulders with many other big names both in and out of the world of cycling. But the reality is that few, if any, will have had a more remarkable journey to get there.” – The Evening Standard London (Source: http://vimeo.com/)
