Enclosed are some studio photos of a couple new bar tape options from Cinelli. There is a Volee version, and a classic cork. Again, it’s an honor to collaborate with Cinelli on this level. We look forward to seeing more new offerings at Interbike this year.

Embossed cork

Volee has a really nice grip, a lean profile, and cleans up well. More from Vegas in a few weeks.

Yesterday I was in San Jose with family, and had a moment to stop by Hellyer Velodrome for the bay area stop of the Velocity Tour. Enclosed are a few details from the infield.

Wall ride between heats

Team Chuey

Team Murder

Congrats to TCB Steve for bringing home the win for Men’s Messenger. He had to pass on the flight because he will be riding across the US during the worlds this year. Next year.. Warsaw!!!
Thanks again for all the support it takes to keep this series alive. Big thanks to Sarah Murder, and the the Bolger family.

Cinelli is a legendary in cycling for producing timeless wrap for handlebars. We could not have been happier with the opportunity to put our twist on this italian classic. Look for more info at this years shows.

Mapping has always played a visual roll in our language, so again it seemed fitting to offer this texture to bikes around the world.

Yo!
Today is my first day back in SF, and it is a heatwave by our standards! SF summer is Sept, and Oct, so looking forward to these days. Enclosed are some more details from the race and screening we threw at Pristine last weekend. Sorry short for words today. Will add some more thoughts later, but want to share some images as I get over some jetlag.

RESULTS:
1. James (1hr20min)
2. Jesse
3. Jacob
4. Janus
5. Pier

James pinched coming in.

Big thanks to Stefan, and Anja for routing this battle.

Here is what winning looks like! James, we will send you a jersey! What size?

Jesse and james came in together.

After the race, we were able to all chill in the lunchroom, and screen our Tour of California project.

Thanks again to all these dudes! Pristine family united 2010.

MASH Photo Spot stickerpacks now available!
The intended purpose is for it’s user to offer up a suggested location for others to create a scenic image of their own. A play on Kodak’s original Photo Spot campaign found in theme parks, and national parks around the world. We look forward to this being an ongoing icon for others to share their own favorite locations from rides around the world. Send us your photo, and we will be adding them to a photo series at mashsf.com

Yesterday we met up at Pristine to see the racers off on their journey through the cities busiest weekend in 5 years. Enclosed are some details from the event.

The route was set to have to travel back and forth along the harbor where the boating events were taking place. 500k visitors from around the world descend on the city, and we were there to send riders through the mess.

35 racers, and support came out to run this one. The skies said rain, but held out for our racers.

International language

Rotterdam came out!

Stefan got the riders prepped. He knows this city as a vetren messenger, and brought these riders to some sites never before seen.

This was a fun start. Foot race to your bike across cars and train tracks

And a headwind of dutch commuters.
Stay tuned for part 2!

Velocity 2010 is coming to Hellyer in San Jose. This has been an incredible series, and happy to see it moving forward in 2010. Come out, race, and support local talent!
Together with Pristine, we are throwing a race here in Amsterdam. The streets here are crazed, and the routing is a another story. You can’t really run a huge gear like many flat cities. There is too much switchback, cobblestone, and circular streets filled with commuters, and tourists. Should be a blast.
Thanks to Jeroen for the really nice spoke cards, Thanks to Vis for the mapping. Thanks to Gijs, and the shop for making good things happen!

Beaver has some great photos of Hernan and their friends at ADT center. Hernan picked up second place in his first CAT5 race! It has been a pleasure to see so many riders come from other disciplines such as skateboarding and bmx backgrounds, and end up falling in love with organized cycling. Organized Chaos!

For Sale: Kogswell Mixtie built as the E.T. Kuwahara.
As a kid, I always wanted the E.T. kuwahara. Since then, I have rebranded some of my bikes to fill that childhood wish. This project is the most original. The bike was built as a way to transport my small son in the city. We used a bobike stem mounted kid seat which he has since outgrown, so the bike, is currently used as a city cruiser.

In the 5 years we have hosted this blog, I have never tried to sell a personal artifact, so sorry if this bums anyone out. While here in Amsterdam, we had a bike stolen that we were borrowing. It was chain locked in the Jordaan, and when we came out from lunch it was gone. Amsterdam style. The De Fietsabriek is going to cost 1800$ to replace, so I hope to sell our mixie to raise some money.

Includes:
Kogswell Mixtie frame and fork, painted as the Kuwakara in the movie E.T.
Fade painted, and original decals under clearcoat
Chris king headset, red
GT Cruiser handlebars
Pro stem, red
Ame tri grips
Panaracer t-serv tires
Velocity Arrowhead 26 inch black rims, laced to 80’s Sun bmx hubs, red
Kogswell fluted seatpost
80’s original Cinelli crossmax 2 bmx saddle
Redline double pinch flight cranks
Redline bottom bracket
80’s Redline flight sprocket
80’s Diacompe MX 1000 brake, and lever
Welgo Shimano DX pedals, red
Sram 1/8 chain
This is an expensive build, the frame, and paint alone, were 950$
Selling complete for 1100$
The bike is 2 years old, and has some marks on the dropouts, and a few other spots. When I get back to SF I can send you more images if your interested. This is a really odd build, and hope you see a fit.

Here is an image of a replica from the movie. This is not the bike for sale.
Please email info@mashsf.com if your interested in more information. Will ship the bike within the US for 100$, and can get an international quote for those overseas.
Thanks,
Mike Martin

Hello from Antwerp Belgium. Enclosed are some details from 24 hours in this time machine of a city. Sorry this is not a cyclocross photo series. Instead, please enjoy my vacation photos.
Classic commuter shop, Jos Remes house brand
The Church of St Charles Borromeo
Lepper saddle, made in Holland

The Antwerp train station must be the most scenic station in all of europe. Increadible

Bike parking

The dome at Central Station

Yesterday I checked in with Gijs at their shop Pristine. Was nice to see how they have organized young riders here in Amsterdam. The entry has a large piece up from when Giant had a show here when the shop opened.

Here is an example of one of the house brand frames they are making in Italy. Columbus tube sets, chrome lugs, classic look. This geo looks nice too.

Hometown pride

Presto

Presto seat stay

Was happy to see they have been doing well with our frame project with Cinelli

Here is a poster they produced based on a classic industrial design lay down. Simple, yet not.

That dream is my size!

The frame wall is globally represented.

Frank had just brought these in. At least he was almost at a stop when his foot, and arm hit the ground.
We decided to throw a race here on 8-21-2010. Come out and run these streets! More info soon.

Chas and Steve will be riding from LA to Atlanta for the 2010 NACCC. To see them off, they are throwing three races in one day. Come out and support their journey!
Check in with Brandon from GODSPEED!
Fergus Tanaka won the category three Timpani Criterium last weekend ahead of fifty racers. Killer!

A good start for the Chica Sexy racing team!
Amsterdam details #2

Simple timeless signage

These antique box bikes are everywhere. Several have been converted into cafes.

Pop-up shop?

Bummed we missed this pop-up. Walton! Bring some beans back when you come back to SF!

Every corner looks like this. Every damn one.

You could spend 6 months here just going to strange bike shops. This one was 1/2 autozone, and 1/2 bikezone.

Would love to bring the Tour of California show here.

Next stop was Patta / Ben G to pick up a board. They are friends with Brad and Will, and was happy to support their shop.

The shop has a great vibe on a rainy day. Blind video days on the TV, my son singing lowrider in the corner.

I did not fly with a board, and there are a ton of parks, and ramps, so needed to make it happen. It was the most expensive board I have bought in 10 years, but what it will bring to my peace of mind will be worth it. These guys are the distributers for Skate Mental, so ended up supporting a brand from Berkeley, brought to Amsterdam, now back to SF.

Parra is part of their family

Some of you may know my Vizsla Jesse. I have known her for 13 years, but in that time I never met a wire haired Vizsla until today.

Not sure what this means?

Stopped to add some MASH love to this sticker door. Am also traveling with sticky art from Benny Gold, HOC, Flowrider, Incase, Lvfixed, and a few other folks who have sent us stickers this year.

Garrett’s dear friend Ido has a shop here in Amsterdam called 290 Square Meters. Garrett lived here for seven years as part of the London Police. Ido and his family really shine here. It was clear from the moment we walked in the door, that they have a really bright community here.

290 Square Meters is the only shop in Europe to carry my clothing project MARTIN. Here is a detail from our short rain trench.

It’s supposed to rain all week here, so will update when I can. Next will check out Pristine, and see Juliette off on her 3 month ride around this continent. More from that journey tomorrow!
Mike

What are they thinking of next?
